Day 1-Road Trip
The trip to Miami has begun. I left Philly at 5:40AM and hit some traffic in both Baltimore and Washington DC, but still managed to arrive at my first rest stop (Richmond, Virginia) in 4 and a half hours. Then, I made a few more stops along the way to my current location of Florence, North Carolina where I arrived at around 5PM. I had planned to travel farther south to Savannah, Georgia, but did not have the energy in me to do any more driving. Luckily, this is considered the halfway point between Philly and Miami, so I am well on my way to sunny and hot Miami, Florida (although not as hot as Philly will be this week!) I promise that there will only be a few posts about driving in this blog and by later this week, I will have stories to tell of my research in Miami and my immersion in Cuban music. If all goes according to plan, I will leave around 7AM tomorrow morning and try to be in Miami by dinner. Another post to come tomorrow!
